Using my account

What is My Library?

My Library allows you to access your personal account details where you can:

It also provides access to the records in your savedlist. You do not need to be logged in to use your savedlist, but you do need to be logged in to access your personal account details.

Logging In

You will need to login in order to access your personal account details. Once you have logged in, Spydus will remember your login details for the duration of your login session. If you want to place a reservation, booking or request you will not need to identify yourself to the system again. If you attempt to place a reservation, booking or request without being logged in, you will be prompted to enter your Borrower ID and password and this identification will last for the duration of the current transaction only.

To login:

  1. Open the My Library menu in the Navigation panel and select Login. You can also login from the Home Page, from the top navigation bar and from the Quicklinks panel.
  2. Enter your borrower ID (which is the barcode from your library card) and your password.
  3. Click the Login button.

If your login is successful, your account details summary page will be displayed. You can access your account details at anytime during your login session. If you have been debarred from using the library you may be prevented from performing certain transactions such as placing reservations.

Forgot your Password? - do the following:

  1. Open the My Library menu in the Navigation panel and select Forgot Your Password?
  2. Enter your borrower ID and your surname.
  3. Click the OK button.

An email with a link for resetting your password will be sent to your registered email address. Please contact us if you don't have an email address.

Logging Out

To protect your privacy, please ensure you logout when you have finished using the system. If you have left your session inactive for more than 20 minutes, the system will timeout your login session (you will be given 60 seconds notice).

To logout, open the My Library menu in the Navigation panel and select Logout. You can also logout from the far right hand side of the top navigation bar. You will be returned to the Library Home Page.

Summary Listing

The My Account ~ Summary listing page provides a detailed breakdown of your current account position. Hyperlinks are provided from the information displayed on this page to enable you to view more detailed information. This page is divided into a number of sections which will only appear if appropriate:

Alerts

This section displays the following pieces of important information:

Messages

This section displays a list of any current messages. Please contact us to remove these messages if they are no longer current.

Loans

This section is always displayed and includes a summary of the number of items currently on loan to you. These items are listed according to their current status as follows:

If there are any items in these categories, a link is provided to display detailed information for each loan. Use these links to renew your loans.

Reservations/Bookings

This section displays information regarding your current reservations and bookings. The following information is displayed:

If there are any items in these categories, a link is provided to display detailed information for each reservation or booking. Use these links to cancel your reservations or bookings.

Other

This section displays information about the following:

If there are any items in these categories, a link is provided to display detailed information for each item. Use these links to cancel requests, amend your alert profiles and update ratings and comments.

History

This section displays a history of the following:

If there are any items in these categories, a link is provided to display detailed information for each item.

Personal Details

The My Account ~ Personal Details page allows you to view and update your current address and contact details. You can also change your library password using this facility (see below).

To change your password:

  1. Login to My Library and access the My Account ~ Personal Details page.
  2. Enter your new password. Your password must only contain alphabetic characters and numbers and must be between four and ten characters in length.
  3. Re-enter the same password in the confirm new password input box and then select the Update button.

Renewing Loans

This facility allows you to renew loans online depending on the library's renewal policy.

To renew your loans:

  1. Login to My Library and access the My Account ~ Summary listing page.
  2. Select the link to display all Current loans.
  3. If you want to renew individual loans select by ticking the checkbox for each loan you would like to renew then click Renew Selections.
  4. If you want to renew all your current loans, click Renew All.

Now please wait while the system processes your selections. Your list of loans will be returned showing the result for each renewal in the status column. Some renewals may not be successful. Please note the new due date for each loan.

Cancelling Reservations, Bookings and Requests

This facility allows you to cancel your current reservations, bookings, booking events and requests if they are no longer required.

To cancel reservations and bookings (booking events and requests are a little different - see below):

  1. Login to My Library and access the My Account ~ Summary listing page.
  2. Select the link to display your current reservations or bookings.
  3. If you want to cancel individual reservations or bookings select by ticking the checkbox for each one you would like to cancel then click Cancel Selections.
  4. If you want to cancel all your current reservations or bookings, click Cancel All.

Now please wait while the system processes your selections. Your list of reservations or bookings will be returned showing the result for each cancellation in the status column.

Booking events and requests may only be cancelled individually. To cancel a booking event:

  1. Login to My Library and access the My Account ~ Summary listing page.
  2. Select the link to display your current booking events.
  3. Select the booking event you would like to cancel by clicking the link in the Description column. This will display the record in full display.
  4. If you want to cancel the entire event click Cancel Event. If you only want to cancel some of the bookings in this event, follow the link to the current events and cancel the required bookings as indicated above.

To cancel a request:

  1. Login to My Library and access the My Account ~ Summary listing page.
  2. Select the link to display your current requests.
  3. Select the request you would like to cancel by clicking the link in the ID/Title column. This will display the record in full display.
  4. Click Cancel Request.

Ratings and Comments

This facility allows you to review, update and delete the Ratings and Comments records you have previously created while searching the Library Catalogue. You may delete any of the records you have created, but you may only update records which are still to be reviewed by library staff. Once these records have been approved or declined, they may no longer be updated as that would mean they would need to be reviewed again.

To delete a ratings and comment record:

  1. Login to My Library and access the My Account ~ Summary listing page.
  2. Select the link to display your ratings and comments records.
  3. If there is only one record selected, it will be displayed in full display. If there is more than one record, the records will be displayed in brief display and you will need to select the record you would like to delete by clicking on the title link.
  4. Click Delete Comment.

To edit a ratings and comment record which is pending review by library staff:

  1. Login to My Library and access the My Account ~ Summary listing page.
  2. Select the link to display your pending review ratings and comments records.
  3. If there is only one record selected, it will be displayed in full display. If there is more than one record, the records will be displayed in brief display and you will need to select the record you would like to delete by clicking on the title link.
  4. Click Edit Comment.
  5. Make the required changes to the ratings level and your comment then click Update Comment. You can also delete this record from here as well.
